chance...

to foster!!!

after careful consideration and thought, i decided to give fostering a shot.
demi, kramer and i picked up "chance" (hairless chinese crested) yesterday in north carolina. so far he is doing awesome!! i will be posting a whole lot more about him in the next couple of days!

we also met "otis" and "princess jasmine" from south carolina...

presently, all three are available for adoption thru bald is beautiful hairless & small breed rescue. (click on link to the right)

here are some photos:

this is adorable chance....

 he fell asleep like this...

then finally laid down...

this is otis:

he is a xolo and quite a short legged little character. super playful and loving.

and last but not least, princess jasmine
(we think she looks like cindy lou)

very petite and timid...a real sweetie

special delivery . . .

camino is a gorgeous, spotted ("rocky road ice cream" colored) xolo who was rescued from a shelter in florida by "bald is beautiful hairless and small breed rescue"...made his way to south carolina for a couple of weeks...and will now be fostered in philadelphia.
i was his chauffeur for a good part of the day! transporting him from south hill, va to just outside of baltimore, md to meet his new foster moms. demi rode along too...she didn't know what to think of camino...so she ignored him...and me, for the most part! ;o) actually, they were both awesome travelers.

the trip was going super smoothly until i hit traffic on 95N just outside of richmond...from that point on...and then ALL the way home (95S AND 64E)...it was absolutely brutal...
never have experienced anything like it. a four hour trip home took almost seven!!
yes...virginia 'welcomes you'...and four million other drivers....

calendar available!

"he is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. you are his life, his love, his leader. he will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. you owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. " author: unknown

my recent visit to micki and lamar's house, in south carolina, was something i will never forget. not only did i meet two very generous, loving, patient people but i was able to literally sit on the ground
in their backyard and leisurely snap about 150 shots of over a dozen dogs!! some personal pets–the majority rescued–and some still adoptable...but ALL individual, adorable characters...and every single one, so hugely entertaining.

which brings me to...what better way to raise money for "bald is beautiful hairless & small breed rescue" than to compile a collection of these shots (along with additional, random pictures of the dogs they have rescued, placed and still have available) and put them into a 2011
bald is beautiful wall calendar---available to you, for sale!

the money this organization makes from the sales of these calendars will help vet, feed, transport and basically take care of the dogs, in need, within this organization.

so...please go to cafépress, preview the calendar and order one (or more!) for yourself and/or the dog lover in your family! it would make a nice christmas gift! the dog quotes on each month are quite endearing...and the faces are magnetic.

thank you.

it's amazing how 'attached' i get to these dogs in such a short period of time...but i know they will be well taken care of and living the good life!!

so...until next time...
